Two quick ways to earn money blogging

Earn Money Travel Blogging

by Greg Rodgers

It isn’t easy to make money on the internet or to earn money by blogging, so I don’t blame you if you start reading this article with some doubts, but I have recently started earning a little money doing some very easy writing for two different blog sites that hire writers for a huge variety of topics and pay via Paypal.

Both websites basically give you your own section or blog “space” that you run, controlling the links, content, etc.  You can use your own photos for articles or choose from thousands of AP photos that they have in stock.

It doesn’t require a whole lot of time, and although many of their writers make a full time living from the sites and have even been interviewed on talk shows, you won’t earn a lot of money - but then again every bit helps when you are traveling developing countries.

The fact that you are paid with Paypal is great, making it possible to do your writing from the road.  Besides, its a great way to get your name out there and both look good on a writing resume!

Site #1:  Today.com

Today.com lets you choose your own URL and topic (assuming it isn’t taken) then provides you with a Wordpress platform that you can work with.  You earn money based on Google Adsense sharing and the links you use are FOLLOW - meaning that some of the juicy trust and pagerank from Today.com get spread to your links.  Once your application is approved, you are up and running without much fuss.  Here is the link to start an application.

Site #2: Examiner.com

Examiner.com is a little more serious (and pays more too).  When you apply you are expected to provide a short writing sample about your topic and some proof that you know how to blog.  Once hired, you watch videos for training, receive an online mentor, and even complete tax forms.  You then run the show with your own “examiner” page and are paid per pageview - which means that you can earn more simply by promoting your articles with Twitter, StumbleUpon, Facebook, etc!

Once again all the links are FOLLOW and you are encouraged to link to outside blogs and sites, including your own. Posts are short, from 150 - 450 words so it doesn’t take a whole lot of your time.

The site is divivided up by cities, so chances are you will find SOME topic in your city to write about. The number of topics is amazing - backpacking, hiking, local parks, music scene, art, pets, anything that you can think of.  There is even an opening for someone to write about “local Italian Restaurants” meaning that every meal is a tax deduction!  If for some reason you can’t find a topic to write about, you can even suggest one on their site.

When you apply, please help out a fellow budget traveler by listing me as a referral, every bit helps!  Here’s how you do it:

When you see the screen above during the application process, just search for “Greg Rodgers” or Examiner ID # 35164. I am brand new to the site so it really helps me out, thanks!

You can apply for examiner.com here. Or if you want to see my new Examiner page to get a feel for what is expected, have a look at Lexington Travel.

You won’t get rich writing for these sites, but it is a way to earn a little money from travel blogging and it is nice to network with a community of writers - particularly on Examiner.com.

Good luck!
